                   SADNESS AND DARKNESS

Once, there existed a vampire named Ni- “Can I do anything? What will happen…?
cholas. He lived near a river, in a forest. Will people not die anymore?”
Nobody, though, knew anything about him. “You are so wrong… so… so… but so
People always wondered what was in that forest, wrong! Never was I alone working on taking lives
because rarely adventurers came alive out of it. away. There is someone young, so young. Never
The victims never saw the attacker. In those times, is Death working alone.”
the adventurers were always having a bad me- “Oh yes! Death never works alone! The Snake!

platypus. He was wearing a black leather jacket rest of my heart, that you should never wish to die,
and some black jeans. He had dark hair. dying is horrible.”
One day, nobody thought to go in that fo- Saying these, Death fell on the ground. Ni-

“Oh, my dear, why did you need to call “The next Death always comes from snakes.”

“You really seem to have a short memory,
        I can’t die.”
“Oh, yes, you can.” said Death while smiling.
“If I can, then why don’t you take it away?”
“There is no need, my dear.”
“No need…? You always seem to bring the
past. Why keep the past in your house, why keep
the past in your living mind? There is no point, no
        point!”
               “Oh, but there is!”
“Depression, isn’t it telling you anything?
The past can be depression, why, keep it? Why are
you thinking at it? You have no heart! No point in
scaring those people! No point! Everybody has a
heart, even you, but it seems more like it is
        dying!”
“Oh, you guessed, yes, I am dying. Nobody
knows the truth, everybody can die. Nobody can
ever achieve immortality, I am sorry.” Saying
these, Death seemed to show his heart, even if it
was too little, because nobody would ever, even if
that person would act, say those words.
